A Sample entry is provided below:- 221. Herbert Shaw, age 13 - Cob up for a stamper, and sometimes pull a stamp. Same hours as the last boy (viz 8am to 7pm with an hour for lunch). Went to a brush making place at 9 years old, and worked 7am to 7 pm, but there was no overtime. It was not machine work. There were about 13 boys. Was not the youngest. There was one only going 7. Did go to Sunday school, but not now because I have no clothes. The man gives me 3s. 6d. a week: father is an optician and has a bit of work at home; and have a brother at work here. Went to St Mary's day school when I was a little boy. Go to church at night and hear them read about God.
