Why join BPiA

British Pensions in Australia Inc. is a new association of British State pensioners, established to challenge the UK government's discriminatory "frozen" pension legislation. BPiA's current primary objective is to encourage Australian based expats to provide financial assistance to the South Africa based, Annette CarsonŐs legal challenge to this legislation. Similar British pensioner associations in South Africa and Canada have funded most of the case action incurred so far, through UK Courts. To succeed in this important Carson case we pensioners in Australia must unite, with these other expats.

This legal action challenges the British governmentŐs willful, unwarranted discriminatory pension rules, which freeze your UK age pension from the time first received in Australia, Canada etc. If one emigrates to such counties as the USA, the European Union, Israel or some 20+ other countries, the UK State pension is regularly increased for inflation. Rest assured if you also receive an Australian pension, Centrelink assures us that any extra pension received from the UK will increase your total combined pension income by 60% of that extra UK pension income; so youŐll be better off when we win.

We request that you join and support BPiA, to assist us to fund Ms. CarsonŐs complex legal action. The cost is a minimal subscription, $20/single or $30/family, and a probable, non-compulsory, minimal annual sub thereafter to assist with ongoing costs. Payment of this annual sub would ensure one is, "financial", and be eligible to vote at any proposed AGM. Occasional donations to help fund anticipated ongoing legal costs may be requested, but there will be no compulsion to contribute to these.

BPiA is staffed entirely by volunteers, most of whom have professional qualifications and considerable senior management experience. We believe the founding committee brings to this organisation much needed renewed energy, and enthusiasm.

Please print and complete the Membership Application form and mail it with your BPiA subscription and any donations you may wish to make now. Also copy this form and vigorously publicise this initiative among British friends and acquaintances of pension and near pension age.

Thank you, Jim Tilley, ACMA. FCPA. Founder member
